Spring 1997 - Cape Felix

The Peter Bayne Project. Participants: Tom Gross

"In the spring of 1997, I planned to travel by dog sled from Cape Felix to Gjoa Haven. Louie Kamookak was to take me and my four sled dogs to Cape Felix, but his snow machine broke down about twenty miles south of the Cape. Louie's father came to help and they dropped me off at the Mission house in Port Perry. I travelled North with the dogs, but within four days developed trench foot. It was very painful, but I managed to get back down as far as Thompson Point where I was picked up by two Gjoa Haven hunters." - Tom Gross

July 1997 - Survey of Cape Felix

The Peter Bayne Project. Participants: Tom Gross, Joanne Laserich

"I made two trips with Joanne Laserich, the first in June, 1994 and the second in July, 1997. Both times we were dropped off at Cape Felix with our bikes and equipment. In 1997 we thought we had found something of interest, but it turned out to be a natural feature with some Inuit artifacts." - Tom Gross
